Petzold kid update

Hey all! This is just a quick update on the kids. Sammy goofed around with her Daddy's mismatched socks by making a sock puppet and creating some hot little leg warmers! (The t-shirt is her play shirt we don't care about getting messy! :) ) Will worked hard with his Daddy a couple weeks ago to ride his bike without training wheels! He's doing pretty well, but tends to prefer zipping around on his scooter more!
Both kids start school at their new preschool this week. Sammy's going to do 2 days a week in the 3's class and Will's going to do pre-K 4 days a week. They're pretty excited! It's at Advent Lutheran Church. Ryan takes Sammy tomorrow morning for a little "try it" hour (Eeeek!) Don't worry, the outfit, including accesories, was chosen and approved tonight before bed!
I get to take Will for his "try it" hour on Wednesday morning. (He's excited, but says he's nervous.) Then, Sam goes for a regular day on Thurs. and Will goes for a regular day on Fri. (Pray for us!)
Preschool pictures to come soon!

5 Years

What is it about 5 that makes this birthday milestone so much more special? I guess it's just that he is growing up so fast. Didn't we just welcome him home as the first grandchild, first great grandchild, first nephew? Weren't we just chasing his toddling little body around? Didn't we just read him his first favorite books?
It seems like every day he does something else to prove his independence! Now he's a Big Brother and cousin. He can run and kick a ball like a pro. He can read words in that favorite book and write letters to his best friend. Ryan and I know what a blessing Will has been in our lives, and we are reminded of it multiple times a day. Sometimes it's one of his insightful questions, "Mom, when we're flying in the airplane, can Jesus get on a cloud and drive by and wave at us?" Other times, it's just him asking to sit and cuddle with us. We love to learn his "loves" like all things superhero, music, sports, fishing, drawing, and tons more!
We are just so proud to be the parents of this sweet boy. I can only imagine what the next 5 years will be like. We will soak up every moment of every day until then.

Emerald Isle

Viv Strikin' a Pose! Catch a wave!Mmmm....sprinkle cookies!Mmmm...Ice cream sundaes!Jumpin' around on the beachPaitently awating the perfect wave! Our annual North Carolina trip was a bit different this year sans men, but it was still wonderful! We went to Raleigh on Thursday, the 6th, drove to Emerald Isle on the 7th and came back to KC on the 11th. Then it was back to school on the 12th!
Sammy and Will awakened their ocean awareness this year! Will was the boogie boarding guru and Sammy was the ultimate beach baby! We exercised our laugh muscles with cousin Viv, who we already miss terribly!

Chicken hawks

Just thought I'd share about the kids' recent run-in with a giant chicken. We went on a harmless trip to the Kansas Natural History Museum and look what we had to deal with! Of course, at the first sight of anything KU related, Will said "Boo Jayhawks, Go Wildcats", as he's been trained. The potential for the backlash that could ensue caused us to quickly duck into the museum for safety. Overall, it was a good trip despite the obnoxious red and blue bird!

BIRDIE

Meet our new addition! Little miss Birdie! Sammy and Will love her to pieces. She is a sweet little kitten who we welcomed to the family just a week ago. She does not want for attention since the kids fight over her constantly! Abby doesn't mind her too much either! They're great friends.
